# How to Send a Service Record to Your Customer in Blue Collar Parts

**Finishing the work and sending the record are two separate steps.** A completed job stays private until you choose to send it. Sending is the one step you pay for, and the price is shown before you pay.

## 1. Mark the work complete

If you did not tick **Mark this work complete** when you filed the record, open the service event from [Work](/work) and press **Mark work complete**. Marking work complete cannot be undone.

## 2. Set the next service date

On the service event, the **Next service date** card asks **How often is this vehicle serviced?** Choose the schedule that fits the equipment and press **Confirm**. Each option shows its price to send. The next service date appears on your customer's copy of the record.

The date is recorded on the record and on your own [calendar](/calendar). Blue Collar Parts does not send your customer reminders.

## 3. Send the record

1. On the service event, the **Send to customer** card shows who will receive it. Your customer gets an email with the record: what you inspected, what you found, and the next service date. They do not need an account to open it.
2. Tick **Email me a copy too** if you want your own copy. It does not change what your customer receives.
3. Press **Send record**. The button shows the price. Pay in the payment form that opens.

The service event then moves to **Sent**, and it moves to **Records** when your customer confirms it. See [what your customer receives](/kb/what-your-customer-receives).

## If the Send record button is not available

The card tells you what is missing:

- The work is not marked complete yet.
- No completed service record is attached.
- No service schedule has been chosen.
- The customer has no email address. Use **Add an email address**.

## Resend or change recipients

After sending, the record panel offers **Send the record again**, a field for the **Customer email address**, and **Also send to** for another recipient. Resending issues a new link; the earlier link stops working. Changing the address here does not change the customer's address on file.
